Eating out when you're trying to make healthy choices can be a bit of a challenge – it can send your good intentions out the window! When I want to grab a quick bite or treat myself to a meal at a restaurant, I look for places with food that's not only filling and delicious, but nutritious and wholesome too.
Here are some of my absolute favourite spots for healthy fare:
1. Grace Belgravia Café
After working in the wellbeing clinic at Grace, I always pop into the café for lunch. They specialise in healthy fare that tastes great and will make you feel even better. My absolute favourite item on the menu is the Golden Milk (Almond milk, Turmeric, Ginger, Pepper and a dash of honey if you have a sweet tooth). Turmeric benefits are well documented and curcumin (a key component) has been found to promote health and protect against a number of health conditions. A really delicious, healthy choice! Lots of people enjoy it as an alternative to coffee. All of the puddings here are delicious too – you would never be able to guess that they’re dairy, gluten and refined sugar-free! It’s a great place to meet friends; the atmosphere is comfortable yet oh-so chic.
2. Daylesford Organic Farm
I love the vibe at Daylesford – it’s very British, with an effortless rustic style. The menu always features fresh, seasonal ingredients. It’s healthy without being too healthy, if you know what I mean. I'd recommend dinner here, though I usually head to Daylesford for a leisurely, laid-back weekend brunch with my girlfriends or family. My favourite brunch dish is poached eggs on rye sourdough.
3. Juice Baby
I love Juice Baby. I first discovered it a couple of years ago and now I’m in here at least once a week. It’s one of the few dedicated juice bars in London and has a hip, very LA vibe. I usually pop in for a juice or salad when I’m running around between meetings – it gives me the energy boost I need. I recommend the Mean Green Juice and the Glow Bowl Salad. When you visit Juice Baby, grab the cosy spot by the window. If you’ve got little ones, treat them to something sweet – their superfood snacks are fun and healthy at the same time.
